DANÍEL HEGGUR
One fateful night in 1992, at the age of 25 Daníel Hjörtur began his longstanding dialogue and love affair with wood. In his own words, ´the doors opened´ into a significant other space, which he aligns with through the process of carving. The sculpture he began carving that night was completed in the following day and the next followed shortly during a 36 hour marathon session.
Since Daníel did not take the usual art-school path and chose not to be influenced with images from his fellow sculptor community, his expression through and with wood remains to this day completely authentic and true to him-SELF. What he gives birth to echoes of tribal art.
