CLIENT: Hjallastefnan og Tálknafjarðar Hreppur
LOCATION: Eyrarskjól, Ísafjörður, Westfjords, Iceland
PROJECT: The design and creation/landscaping of a play area, fencing and walkways
DATE: 2013-14
This project was exemplary of how a small community in the Westfjords came together in the creation of a new playground for their school. After an introductory presentation of our work and practices, a trusting relationship was forged between the parents, teachers and ourselves. The work is evolving in several stages in a similar way to our other school projects, where community collaboration is core to the development. In Tálknafjörður we have also teamed up with SEEDS a International Volunteer Association, who assisted with landscaping for the playground.
Playfully our children develop and enrich their mind, body and spirit and it is our pleasure to support this in the creation of environments constructed from natural elements and inspired by nature.
Krukka grounds its ideas within the knowledge that Nature knows Best, hence the use of materials and arrangement of elements is always Organic. The value of quality play areas that enhance and support the development of children cannot be overstated
