The creative activities of KRUKKA are ever evolving and thereby hard to define. By defying the convention that asks us to condense our innumerable natural abilities into any specific line of work, we keep the projects varied, expand our own learning and let´s be honest have more fun. Krukka co-creates alongside clients and projects evolve in a state of focused attention on the visions and energy existing in each individual or group. What follows is determined by in the natural flow of the creative process.
Creation on all levels emits energy, whether it be the original manifestation of thought/word to matter or transformation of material from one state to another. This will effect those involved directly and indirectly, consciously and unconsciously. By paying deep attention and sincerely shaping our own personal human growth we believe that whatsoever is created from our efforts will be felt in a powerful and positive manner.
Forever mindful of our constant interaction with Mother Earth, our decision making as far as materials, objects and ways of working go, is as wholesome as possible in any given situation. It is our sincere belief that by constructing from a world of recycled, disregarded, broken and otherwise re-usable matter, we help to generate a more positive and mindful state of being. By integrating humour and joy the message is not only more effective , but always gladly received.
the Family Company
The dedicated husband and wife team, Daníel Hjörtur and Linda Mjöll have united in their mutual passion for an artistic expression called ‘work’ — a process characterized by a boundless and playful creative flow, demonstrating an awakening and uplifting effect. Their first collaboration, in 2010, was an eco-conscious effort to create a guesthouse, using environmentally friendly methods, which has since become their trademark style. With striking results, the Guesthouse ‘1×6’, received great reviews from the local media and much positive attention from guests, who were thrilled to encounter such a unique experience. Their inspirational journey throughout the project resulted in the launch of KRUKKA.
Projects are varied as they range from landscaping play-areas and event designing, to creating unique interiors for high class hotels but the quality of energy applied is the same. The quest is to effect children and people in general, in a playful and positive manner that supports their joy and may even lift the human spirit.
Daníel and Linda were born in small villages (Grundarfjörður and Breiðdalsvík), on opposite sides of Iceland and both of them are powerfully aware of their connection to the natural forces surrounding them. Having travelled through the international cityscapes of life, they now reside together on a farm by the shores of Kjalarnes, at the root of Mount Esja. From this idyllic location, they view the world and play at working.
